According to an old story, a lord of ancient China once asked his physician, a member of a family of healers, which of them was the most skilled in the art. The physician, whose reputation was such that his name became synonymous with medical science in China, replied, “My eldest brother sees the spirit of sickness and removes it before it takes shape, so his name does not get out of the house. My elder brother cures sickness when it is still extremely minute, so his name does not get out of the neighborhood. As for me, I puncture veins, prescribe potions, and massage skin, so from time to time my name gets out and is heard among the lords.

Why is this blog called Pharmacy Fu? No, I’m not dropping the f-bomb on the pharmacy profession. The suffix fu (as in kung fu) is of Asian origin and refers to the expression of high art. The use of fu in my blog title is a play on how the word is used in hacker culture.

First and foremost Pharmacy Fu is a blog, and so may appear to be my random musings on the pharmacy profession. Hopefully, it will also serve as a useful source of insight into the art of pharmacy practice from the perspective of a pharmacist-in-training. My goal is to explore how I can become more productive as a student-pharmacist for my own benefit and for the sake of my patients and colleagues.
